Books on Critical Pedagogy

The best way to understand critical pedagogy is to read books about what others have to say about the world we live in and how they themselves are promoting awareness.




It is a book with several essays written by several people in the field of  critical pedagogy.  The issues covered in this book are class, racism, gender, language, and other issues in the classroom.   Several essays are devoted on ways teachers can  incorporate critical pedagogy in the classroom.


This book has essays on three sections, historical perspective, emerging trends, and hope.  The issues in this book are more political oriented on issues in the workforce and education.


Paulo Freire is known to be the founder of critical pedagogy. This book is based on Frieire ideas on on education and social change.


It is an easy read about how critical pedagogy can be taught in the everyday classroom.  The first chapters describe how  society and education is seen through the eyes of the author.  Further in the book the author discusses issues in the classroom that need to be changed.  The author promotes critical pedagogy  as a way to promote change in education through the teacher.  The describes ways teachers can apply critical pedagogy in their classrooms.


This book is to introduce educators into designing a critical pedagogy classroom. The book has several essays consisting of educational issues that affect teachers and students.
